Mount- Horeb Haitian Evangelic Church

REV. IVALIER DUVRA SENIOR PASTOR OF MOUNT HOREB EVANGELICAL CHURCH FORT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA

Rev. Duvra was born in the North West Department of Haiti, precisely in the commune of Mole Saint- Nicholas( St- Nichols). He accepted Christ a tender age of 10 yrs old and was baptized a year thereafter. At a young age, Rev. Duvra always had visions about following God or leadership calling but he never really paid much attention to those dreams: He just contented in serving God at that young age.

In fact, as a young man out of school, he became a school teacher, had a brief sting in the Haitian Army as a soldier, both career paths that had nothing to do with the calling of God. Still as young man in the late 80’s( 88), Rev. Duvra moved to Nassau, the Bahamas, got married and joined Emmaus Baptist Church there in New Providence.

There @ Emmaus Baptist Church, those dreams and visions of ministerial calls started to come back and became more audible. In a night service there, Rev. Duvra was given an opportunity to preach and after the sermon(the church was blessed), many people came to him and confirmed that  he had the gifts of leadership and preaching. It was then he understood what the bible says in:  “the gifts and the calling of God are without repentance”( ROM 11:29).

The preaching sessions at Emmaus B. Church were short lived though:In the early 90’s, Rev. Duvra moved to the USA  with his young family and settled in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. he joined a young church there, helped in Sunday school teaching, and was given opportunities to preach every now and then there. Also there in Fort Lauderdale, his young family grew: the Union of Marie Edese Pascal and Rev Duvra produced three children: two boys and one girl who are now all grown ups.

Those dreams and visions persisted. Still in Fort Lauderdale Florida, around 1992-1996, Rev. Duvra  decided to persue a theological course @ United Christian College in Clevelend Tenessee. He graduated with Certificate in Theological Studies.  After sharing those dreams  with some close confidents in the faith, they convinced him that he was confirmed over and over by God to start a ministry.

In October 1996 and precisely October 26, 1996, Mount Horeb Evanglical Church was open after weeks of prayers in seeking guidance.

REV. Duvra had always in mind to lead better and move forward with the church he was overseeing. Rev. Duvra secured an affiliation with CM&A( Christian and Missionary Alliance) for the church and had agreed to futher his studies with ATS( Alliance Theological Seminary), and graduated in an extesive program there.

As for Mount Horeb Evangelical Church, it became a reference over the years in Fort Lauderdale: Migrants are being assisted, the sicks are healed, the hungry are fed and social services are being rendered and more....

After more than 25 years of service in this rough neighborhood, Rev Duvra is stil at the helm of Mount Horeb Evangelical Church, though a lot of young leaders are being integrated in leadership positions. Our aim is to Please God and fulfil his calling in serving his people. Blessings!
